Most people who look for bodyguard services have a specific moment in mind. A public appearance. A tense business situation. A family member who has received unwanted attention. A trip somewhere unfamiliar. The first instinct is to hire a bodyguard: one capable person standing nearby. That instinct is sound. The question is what that person will do before they ever stand next to you, and whether one person is the right answer at all. This page explains how AMERINE approaches personal protection, and how hiring a bodyguard differs from running an executive protection program.
You are likely weighing a few things:
These are the right questions. We would add one more: what is the plan?
A bodyguard, in the common picture, is a person. An executive protection program is a plan, carried out by people.
A personal security guard hired for a day typically arrives, stands near the principal and reacts to what happens. Without advance work, they meet the venue, the route and the crowd at the same moment the principal does. Their value depends almost entirely on their reflexes.
A protection program starts earlier. Someone has assessed the principal's exposure, walked the venue, planned the arrival and departure, chosen primary and alternate routes, and briefed the agent on the people the principal will meet. The agent on the day is carrying out a plan, not improvising one.
The difference is rarely visible to anyone watching. It shows up in what does not happen.
AMERINE provides personal protection through close protection services delivered by agents from former federal protective-detail backgrounds. The firm was founded by Scott Jones, a former U.S. Secret Service Special Agent (1998–2015) who held Secret Service leadership in Dallas–Fort Worth.
What that means in practice:
Visible security can be useful at a perimeter. Around a person, it often works against the goal. A large escort in dark glasses tells everyone in the room who matters, and invites the attention the principal hoped to avoid.
Our agents aim for the opposite effect. The principal should be able to hold a conversation, walk through a lobby or sit in a restaurant without the room rearranging itself around the security.
A single agent can be the right answer for a defined moment: one event, one meeting, one short trip. Our article on VIP protection before a public moment walks through how that kind of engagement is planned.
When the exposure is ongoing, such as repeated threats, a high public profile or a household with several people to consider, one person on call is rarely enough. That situation is better served by a program built on a threat assessment and sized to the need. Our article on starting a 24/7 personal protection program explains how full coverage is set up and then adjusted over time.
For the broader picture, see our executive protection services.
We do not supply uniformed guards for fixed posts, crowd management staff or nightlife security. When a request is better served by another kind of provider, we will say so.
Yes. After a short assessment, we can recommend coverage for one event, one meeting or one trip. Scope and staffing are confirmed in writing.

A bodyguard is usually a person reacting on the day. Executive protection is a plan built in advance, including assessment, advance work and briefing, and carried out by trained agents.
The aim is discretion. Agents dress for the setting and stay close without drawing attention to the principal.
