The Risk Is the Room, Not the Match
Corporate hospitality at the World Cup — suites, hospitality villages, sponsor activations, and after-match dinners — concentrates senior executives, board members, key clients, and family in the smallest possible footprint. From a security standpoint, those rooms are the most exposed part of the trip.
Credential and Badge Control
Most incidents in hospitality settings begin with credentialing failures: unverified plus-ones, lost badges, swapped wristbands, photos of QR codes shared on social media, and friendly people walking in behind a known guest. Hosts should pre-issue credentials with names, photo IDs at check-in, a documented re-issuance process, and a defined escalation path for anyone whose credential cannot be verified.
Vendor and Staff Vetting
Hospitality events lean heavily on temporary staff: caterers, bartenders, AV crews, drivers, photographers, and brand-experience staff. Vetting should be coordinated with the venue and confirmed in writing. AMERINE recommends asking vendors three questions: What background-check standard do your staff meet? Who supervises them on-site? Who is your incident point of contact during the event?
Discreet Protection in a Branded Setting
Visible "muscle" damages a hospitality experience and conflicts with the brand. Effective protection in suite environments looks like extra hosts in business attire — quiet, situationally aware, blending into the staffing pattern, with eyes on the guest list, the entry point, the green-room transitions, and the post-event movement.
Information and Conversation Discipline
Suite environments produce overheard conversations, accidental photographs of confidential decks, and informal commitments that travel further than intended. Brief executive guests in advance: assume any photo will be public, any audio may be recorded, and any vendor in the room may not be cleared.
